The Adventures of the Lion King: A Lion King Fan Story
Written by Jeremiah Weeks
Chapter One- A Prince Among Lions

It had been an exciting week at Pride Rock. Simba, now deemed the new Lion King, had introduced his newborn son, Bantu, to the kingdom only a day before, and all that was left was the most important job of all: to teach Bantu how to rule the kingdom and tell him about the Kings of the Past, like his father, Mufasa, had taught him many years before. Simba got up from a refreshing nap and called Bantu over to his side.

"Bantu, I have something very important to tell you," Simba told his son. "One day, all of Pride Rock will be yours. I want you to be my heir to the throne." Bantu smiled.

"Me? A king?" he asked. "That sounds awesome!" Simba smiled at him and placed his paw gently onto Bantu's shoulder.

"Yes, it does sound like fun," he began, "but it is also filled with responsibility. There is a balance that defines all of nature and governs all of our destinies. And as king, you'll need to understand that balance and respect all of the creatures that will serve under you." Bantu was confused.

"Don't we eat some of those creatures, though?" he asked. "We need food, too, and they're the only source that we know of." Simba continued.

"We do tend to eat a lot of them, but let me explain it more thoroughly," he said. "When we die, our bodies become the grass, and most of the animals eat the grass. So both of those events are connected to each other, like links in a chain, and can never be broken. In the same way, we are all connected to each other in the great Circle of Life."

Simba remained very solemn as he explained how to rule Pride Rock in the right manner. But Bantu became even more confused. How would he know which way was right, and which way was wrong? Simba smiled at his son.

"Let me tell you something that my father told me a long time ago," he said. "Do you see the stars when you look up at the sky at night?"

"Yes," Bantu answered, still a little confused.

"Well, the Kings of the Past look down on us from the stars," Simba explained. "And when you feel alone, you need to remember that those kings will always be there with you, wherever you are." Simba hugged his son tight. "And so will I."

As the sun set before them, Simba and Bantu both fell into a contented sleep under the evening sky.

The next morning, Simba woke up to a strange noise. He looked around to find that it wasn't coming from anywhere near Pride Rock, so he rose to his feet and walked towards the watering hole. He met Nala within a few feet of their den. She eyed Simba and asked him where he was going. Simba smiled.

"I heard something strange coming from the watering hole, so I'm going to go find out what it was," he answered. "I bet I know who caused the commotion, too." With that, Simba angrily stomped towards the watering hole, with Nala watching him. When he got there, it was just as he had expected. Timon and Pumbaa had been there, and Pumbaa had done something that scared the zebra herd away. Simba roared with all of his might and jumped down closer to the water. He found Timon and Pumbaa hiding under a ledge.

"What did you guys do this time?" he asked them. Timon straightened up.

"Well, we were trying to get some water so that we could water our mango tree," he began, "but Pumbaa pushed me over and said that he was thirsty, so he starts drinking some of it." Simba sat down next to his friends.

"Then what happened?" he asked. "What scared the zebra herd away?" Simba called Pumbaa over to his side. Pumbaa blushed as he began his side of the story.

"Like Timon said, I told him that I was thirsty," he began. "It was because I had been sitting next to something that felt really warm, and I hate things that feel too warm."
Simba smiled a little bit as Pumbaa continued.

"When I had had enough water, I decided to sit down in the same spot as before, but unfortunately, my stomach had chosen a different spot, and when I sat down, I felt sick." At this, he blushed even more. Simba, however, could already guess what he was going to say.

"I'm guessing that you passed gas again, huh?" he asked. Pumbaa nodded, and Simba slapped himself in the head with his paw. Then, he called Timon over to stand next to them and looked them in the eyes angrily.

"How many times have I told you guys not to do that?" he asked them. "Every time that you scare the zebra herd away with your antics, I'm either doing something important with Bantu, or sleeping. Next time you do that, make sure that I'm awake," he demanded, "or else!" With that, Simba stomped way again, feeling worse than a cat that has his head stuck in a small jar. Timon gulped hard.

"I told you we shouldn't have done that to begin with," he said, and dug a hole under the ledge. He jumped into the newly-dug hole and covered himself to hide.

When Simba got back to Pride Rock, he searched for Bantu, thinking that he was out with his friend, Ahadi, but when he finally caught up with Bantu, Simba found him playing with his sister, Kiara, under Nala's watchful eyes. Simba was still in a bad mood, so he walked up to his cave to take another nap. Nala followed him after telling the cubs to play nicely with each other.

After his nap, Simba felt better. His friend, Leona, met him at the cave entrance and asked him if her son, Ahadi, could come to Pride Rock for a play date with Bantu.
Simba thought about it for a minute, then said that it was okay, as long as they didn't go beyond the border, because that area had been forbidden since his childhood, and he didn't want his son to end up like Mufasa.

When Bantu came to the cave, Simba told him to wait there while he ran to get Ahadi. But after a while, Bantu felt bored, so he looked for something fun to do. Suddenly, he pricked up his left ear and listened. He could hear music near the back of the cave, so he investigated the sound. When he reached the back of the cave, he saw something that made him jump back a few inches. Two humans, Ashley and I, were sitting on some rocks and playing musical instruments. Ashley smiled at Bantu and continued her music. I, however, never looked up from my instrument as I played my part of the song.

When we were finished with our music, we introduced ourselves to Bantu and said that Simba had been expecting us for about an hour or so. Bantu smiled and said that Simba would return shortly. When Simba returned to the cave and saw us, he smiled.

"Welcome," he said. "I take it you arrived safely…" Ashley said that we had arrived without any problems, and then Simba had us sit down.
A Lion King fan story I wrote. Simba, now deemed as the Lion King, has just introduced his new heir, Bantu, to the kingdom, and now he has to teach him the responsibilities that come with being a ruler, like his father, Mufasa, had done many years before.

After a while, though, Bantu becomes bored, and tries to find something fun to do while Simba goes off to find his friend, Ahadi. But while doing so, Bantu comes face-to-face with two humans, whom Simba had been expecting for the last hour.
